After re-imagining the train, Maxime d’Angeac takes on a new challenge with Accor. Orient Express has decided to broaden the horizon of the legend: while the land has already been conquered by its iconic train, the sea now opens up with the Corinthian - the brand’s first sailing yacht. And the project is an ambitious one - 220 meters long with nearly 56 distinct spaces to design from a blank page, all within a record timeframe to allow the sailing yacht to set sail by spring 2026. The wind is rising!

HEADING TOWARDS THE EXTRAORDINARY

The project is exceptional from every perspective. For this one-of-a-kind yacht, Maxime envisions an interior that sails through mythic seas - especially the Mediterranean, mother of all seas, whose spirit has inspired imaginations since antiquity. His designs navigate between the grandeur of ancient Greece and the golden age of the French Riviera. Blessed times of carefree living, where the art of enjoying life flourished under the sound and the whisper of the wind - a refinement infused with luxury and lightness, like a perpetual invitation to escape.
The Orient Express spirit is infused into the maritime codes to interpret this new world of travel and open it up to the distinctive signatures of the Maison. Mouvement is omnipresent, setting the rhythm of each space. The decoration itself seems to sway to the subtle motion of the waves - a natural echo of the gentle rolling of the train carriages on the rails. The resulting universe is unique, bearing a new set of aesthetic codes. All around the yacht lies an opening to infinity. In the architect’s vision, spaces unfold and turn towards the sea. Ceilings rise, and windows invite the horizon into the heart of the suites, pushing back the boundaries of naval design.
Here lies the greatest achievement of this project : breaking conventions and working hand in hand with Les Chantiers de l’Atlantique, in an industry accustomed to highly regulated process and resistant to change. For this project, everything has been reimagined. The yacht is been conceived in a record time - just 18 months - and as construction progresses, new materials are continuously certified to meet the project’s exacting standards of elegance and refinement.

With its launch scheduled for May 2026, the Corinthian promises to be a singular sailing yacht, living up to the dreams of those who imagined it.
