On the top floors of a 1950s Roman building, lies a triplex apartment overlooking the Eternal City along the banks of the Tiber. Everything in this apartment needs to be redone. Maxime d'Angeac embarks on the project to rethink the entire space and recreate a terrace on a long-abandoned rooftop.

Roman Panorama

At the origin of this large-scale project lies the enigma of a complex plan: how to play with volumes to give the space grandeur without losing intimacy? This is the core issue in Maxime d'Angeac's projects. He therefore created an open-plan layout with a certain flexibility, sophisticated vanishing points, discreet doors and sliding panels, all designed to allow the rooms to be adapted to suit the moods of the future occupants.

The result is a resolutely contemporary apartment that nevertheless blends in perfectly with its 1950s surroundings. All around, panoramic bay windows offer views of Rome and its monuments. The whole is enhanced by a terrace that opens up the view to the surrounding buildings. A few steps higher, a solarium rises above the rooftops and offers a view of the immensity of the city.
